Millions of people in the world suffer from acne, from teenagers to adults. It is caused by a number of factors but namely dirt and bacteria becoming clogged in the pores of your face, back and other areas. Many expensive creams and tablets work by either clearing your skin of dirt, or by tackling the bacterial problem.
The methods here aren't revolutionary, but they do work in most people. How do I know this? I personally suffered from acne myself for years and years. During this time I experimented with almost everything, spoke to a lot of people, and did a lot of research. After 8 years of trying I finally reduced my acne to a level I am happy with and these tips helped me immeasurably!
Tip 1 - Wash, but not too often
Many acne suffers believe that they need to wash as often as possible to help alleviate their symptoms, this is a factoid and can actually aggravate the condition further! You should wash your face no more than twice a day and use a mild soap. Personally I wash only once in the morning with a ph balanced face wash from Simple. I then tone with a Simple moisturizer as well as toning before I go to bed. Initially when I started this I had more spots, but after a week it dies down.
Tip 2 - Drink water
Humans are, as I'm sure you know, made up of mostly water, we need it to survive but more than that, we need it to function well! Most headaches are caused by dehydration and it can also affect other parts of the body, such as the skin. Drinking lots of water will serve two functions, firstly your skin will be healthier as you will help to flush out toxins, and secondly you will likely cut down on fizzy drinks and tea, which can have a negative affect on your skin.
Tip 3 - A balanced diet (and sleep)
A balanced diet is incredibly important to being healthy, and being healthy means healthy skin. Vitamins and minerals in fruit and vegetables not only bolster your immune system which can help destroy bacteria in spots quicker, but it can also improve the quality of your skin making spots less likely to appear. Sleep is also an important factor as you heal whilst sleeping, so those spots will actually be healed at night, plus a lack of sleep can lead to a poor immune system which means your body is less effective at fighting spots.
Tip 4 - Avoid stress where possible
Stress is quite often a massive factor in acne development, this is caused by either a weakened immune system or changes in your hormone levels, most women develop spots or pimples near the time of their period because of a similar reason. Avoiding stress can be hard but doing light exercise can help both reduce stress and increase your immune system, which again will help fighting spots.
Tip 5 - The quick fix
The previous 4 tips have been acne treatments that require small life style changes that can take a number of weeks for improvement, but everyone has had the dreaded spot appear days before an interview, night out or date. Toothpaste is very good at reducing redness and swelling of spots. Just dab a small amount on the spot before bed time and the spot will appear reduced by the morning. Toothpaste works by drying out the spot and reducing the inflammation thereby making it appear smaller and less noticeable!
Using these natural acne treatments you will soon find yourself having clearer skin and living a spot free life - with no need for expensive creams!
